Spider-Man 4 News! Cast Confirmed, Rumors Denied!

by Billy Fisher

I am really excited that Sam Rami is taking another chance with the Spider-Man franchise.  The first two were some of the best movie making that I have ever seen.  They were cornerstone in the current explosion of super-hero movies.  That is something that we all should be thankful for.  On to the news.

The New York Post got the scoop on some info for SM4.  According to producer Todd Black, Kirsten Dunst IS going to be returning to her role as Mary Jane.  However, it is not confirmed that there is going to be a wedding between Parker and MJ.  Even though the end of the third one might lead you to think so.   Secretly, I was kind of hoping for someone else to take up the role of MJ.  KD has been ok (air quotes around ok) at this role.  Personally, I don't think she has been any more then ok at a role since Interview with a Vampire.  Anyway.

Black also shed some light on the villain situation.  Black says that Morbius is not going to be the villain in SM4.  This piece of news kind of made me sad because I thought Rami would be the perfect person to bring this character to life.  There is some life at the end of this tunnel.  NYP gave us this:

Black also confirmed that the villain will be one of Spidey's foes from the comic, not a character invented for the film

As if that wasn't cool enough, Black was quoted as saying this:

We're just coming up with who the villain's going to be now. We'll be shooting in New York again. Trust me, people will appreciate who we pick, because it'll be a big part of New York.

Of course this has started the rumor mill into overload.  The BIGGEST rumor to come out is that the villain might be, The Kingpin.  Granted, he was the villain in Daredevil, but I have a feeling that people at Sony might be willing to fork over the cash to secure the rights.

I come from the school of not putting all of my eggs in one basket.  I feel that there a lot of villains to choose from.  Kraven, Shocker and Lizard just to name a few.  In actuality, Black might just be throwing a smoke screen at us, and Morbius could be the top choice.

I love these kind of rumors because the possibilties are endless.  Please, don't stay quiet on this.  Your opinion is priceless. So, until next time, let me know what you think.
