Natalie Portman Has Been Cast In Marvel's THOR!

by Joey Paur

Natalie Portman has officially joined the cast of Marvels Thor! When I heard they were looking at Jessica Beil for a role in the movie recently, I knew Portman wasn't down for the count! She will be taking on the role of Jane Foster.  She will be joining Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, and Tom Kiddleston, who is taking on the role of  Loki.

Jane Foster is a nurse who is employed by Dr. Donald Blake, who is the human alter-ego of Thor. She develops feelings for Blake, at the same time she has a thing for Thor, so there is an awkward little love triangle there because she didn't know they were the same person until he eventually tells her, and then takes her to Asgard with him. Not sure what kind of role she will play in the Marvel movie universe because the studio said the character will be updated for the film story.

I'm happy that Portman has been cast in the film! She is a terrific actress, and she's got what it take to pull off the character.

Here is the official synopsis for the film:

Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of superhero: Thor. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor comes out May 20, 2010.

What do you think about Natalie Portman being cast as Jane Foster in Thor?
