NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST and The WOLFMAN release dates Pushed Back

It looks like the new Nightmare On Elm St has a nightmare of it's own, and The Wolf Man looks like it's gonna get dumped. People have to stop judging these books by their covers. Sure, Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger has his face completely burnt off. And of course, Benicio Del Toro as Wolfman, is a scary ass looking werewolf.  But if you look past their physical appearance... and the murdering, their regular guys. Just like you and... well, not me. If you're like those guys, let's never hang out. ShockTillYouDrop reports that the release dates of these two reincarnations of horror classics, have both been pushed back.

The release of Platinum Dunes' remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, is being pushed back 2 weeks, from April 16th, 2010 to April 30th. Why the rain check? Producer Andrew Form explains:

We're all alone on that weekend. There were two other movies on the 16th. The 30th we're all alone and that takes us into May.

Why do you have to be such a loner? Everyone could use a friend. Well,  this tactic worked for the opening week of this year's Friday the 13th, but it nose dived hard the very next week. And with Iron Man 2 opening up the weekend after Nightmare, a substantial drop is inevitable.

Joe Johnston's The Wolf Man looks like it's suffering an even worse fate. Instead of it's planned Nov 6th, 2009 release, it's getting dumped into the box-office "phantom zone" that is February, on the 12th of that month in 2010. This could mean one of two things, hopefully not both. Wolfman might not have been ready in time for November, as it will have complicated effects throughout the film. Or, Universal Studios has lost faith in the film, due to what they've seen so far.

We're just gonna have to wait and see what these films have in store for us. I can tell you that from what I saw at Comic-Con, Nightmare's darker tone opens it up for what looks like the scariest of all the Elm St films so far. And the makeup job Rick Baker did on Benicio Del Tori as Wolfman looks amazing. Fingers crossed here!
