The Blair Witch Project was a crazy success when it came out. There were lines around the block of people waiting to get in to see this movie. The marketing campaign for the film was brilliant, and that's what sold the film, was it real or not? It was the first real online viral marketing campaign. People were fascinated by the story, and the curiosity itch needed to be scratched. It's hard to believe its been 10 years since it came out.

The sequel pretty much killed the franchise, it was interesting, but they really took the story of the Blair Witch in the wrong direction. But now there is talk from the original creators of the film Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick, that there is a possibility of a third Blair Witch film. In a interesting interview with BBC they talk about there experiences in making the Blair Witch films, and here is what is said regarding a revival.

Sanchez admits they are still undecided how to proceed with the project, whether to stick with the grittiness of the first film, or make a more polished and more obviously expensive sequel.

"Ideally, each Blair Witch film would be a completely different kind of movie,", he says. "We've thought about doing a film that takes place in the late 1700s and looks like a [Stanley] Kubrick movie with gritty looking people and lighting.

Personally that's the movie I would like to see. I always thought a film based on the Blair Witch origin would be freakin' cool. You have this whole background and history built up around her and the missing kids, it just would make for a cool film.

"But now, we're thinking about going back and and seeing what happened directly after the first film finished. I think it will have some kind of video element in it, but it won't be a first person hand-held movie."

That is also an interesting direction to take the film. To see what happened right after the camera falls to the floor.

With the fate of the original characters an unsolved mystery, it is unlikely the actors will also return for the film.

Myrick says: "I talk to Josh quite regularly and Mike Williams as well. Actually, he had a role in my last movie.

"Heather, I haven't seen in years. The last I heard, she had got out of the business and gone up north and is living on a ranch somewhere.

"Maybe she's still traumatized," he adds.

I could have another go at the story as long as it's done right. So what do you think about a third Blair Witch film? Are you interested in revisiting the story?
