Michael Sheen reveals who he'll be in TRON LEGACY!

Actor Michael Sheen caught up with ComingSoon at the Toronto Film Festival, while promoting his new Football(soccer) biopic The Damned United.

Following his turn as David Frost in Ron Howard's Oscar-nominated Frost/Nixon, Sheen has picked up a number of other high profile films. Later this year, he'll be seen in the estrogen magnet Twilight Saga: New Moon, as the Italian vampire leader Aro. He also lent his voice to the White Rabbit in Tim Burton's 3D Disney adventure Alice in Wonderland.

Sheen will also be have a role in another upcoming Disney 3D movie, Tron Legacy. We reported on more details about the sequel to the 1982 original earlier today.

Despite early speculation that Sheen would be playing yet another villain... which he does do so well, he revealed that he would in fact be playing a nightclub host:

That was amazing, because there's a lot of green screen in that. But my stuff was mainly in this amazing set that they built because I'm a nightclub host, so they built the nightclub and there were hundreds of extras and it was one of those great scenes where there's just loads going on.

But even though he's a nightclub owner, doesn't mean he might turn out to ultimately be a villian. He did Tweet that he would be playing a villain, who is "not a person at all" just a month and a half ago.

Sheen also commented on the much-viewed Light-Cycle Test Footage that debuted at Comic-Con two years ago(and converted to 3D this year), which was used to help get the film greenlit. He explains that the movie has far surpassed the impressive CG work in the demo:

[Director Joseph Kosinski] did that to get Disney to give the okay to make the film. Joe now says that he doesn't like people seeing that because it's moved on so much from that, and that looks awesome.

Very true, the character design has probably evolved. And the effects have undoubtedly gotten better over the last couple of years. Not to mention that the test footage wasn't originally shot for 3-D, like the full feature is. The test footage never ceases to stop me from blinking, so we can only imagine how insane the final product will be.

Tron Legacy hits theaters December 17th, 2010. Alice In Wonderland is due out March 5th, 2010. And The Damn United has been out in the UK for nearly six months, but will begin opening is select theaters in the US beginning Sept. 25th.
