In Russia a group of over 200 people got together to do a role playing game in which they enacted one of their favorite video games which is the same type of game that Fallout is. Durring this role playing real life video game, they give us a good look of what a nuclear apocalypse might look like. They are equiped with everything! Military encampments, weapons, radiation suit, and atomic zombies.
The video game that this role playing adventure is based off of is called S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow od the Chernobyl. It's a Ukrainian video game that is very similar to Fallout. It borrows material from the novella, Roadside Picnic, by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky and Andre Tarkovsky's film Stalker, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. takes place in the Zone of Alienation after a fictional second Chernobyl Disaster, which killed or mutated many of Chernobyl's residents.
This past August, over 200 players got together to organize a real-life version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., with the Russian town of Vyborg standing in for Chernobyl, and latex masks representing nuclear mutations. Their photos provide a veritable storyboard for military response to a mutant apocalypse.
There is an incredible amount of detail to this whole role playing set up. I'm really impressed at how they were able to pull this together, it looks like it was a lot of fun. Check out the photos below!
