New JUDGE DREDD Movie Has a Great Screenwriter

When we first heard a new Judge Dredd movie was getting made, there were a lot of moans and groans. Even from myself, you remember that 1995 version that starred Sylvester Stallone? I thought that movie was crap even as a teenager. I haven't seen it in years, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't gotten any better as I've gotten older. I could have done without a new Judge Dredd film, but the reboot is being developed, and it will most likely happen. However I am a bit more excited about it having found out who the screenwriter is.

Bristish screenwriter Alex Garland is the guy writing the film. Don't know who he is? The guy worked with director Danny Boyle on 28 Days Later and Sunshine! I love both of those movies and thought they were done incredibly well. Judge Dredd is actually being developed up Danny Boyle's DNA Films, so it makes sense that Garland is tackling the script. This whole new Judge Dredd revival has just started to become interesting.

The news broke from artist Mark Simpson's twitter, who has worked on the comics, as well as the concept art for the new adventure. He said:

"Working through script visuals for Judge Dredd movie. Alex Garland writes a great script."

With Alex Garland writting the script it's no surprise that it's a great script. What do you all think about Garland writting the script? Does that spark your interest in the film?
