Exclusive Interview: Katy Johnson Vs. Brian S

Continuing on what i call "The Road To 2001 Maniacs 2" i'm slowly catching up with what i consider is the best looking cast a horror movie has ever graced, did i say EVER! This time my victim is the beautiful, funny and super friendly Katy Johnson. She is not only in the upcoming Tim Sullivan helmed 2001 Maniacs: Field Of Screams but she also models and has graced the covers of Maxim and many other magazines, she has done work with Bench Warmer (which is now my favorite kind of trading card), she has done work with Toys For Tots and has many, many other projects going on. She is a very down to earth girl who helps people in her spare time, she also helps with suicide prevention. So sit back, enjoy and read on as i pick her brain, get nerdy with her and we get into the mind of the very cool, funny and beautiful Katy Johnson.

Brian S- Hi Katy we meet again! Just kidding, i don't know you from squat! Katy how'd you get introduced into the world of acting and how long have you been doing this?

KJ- Hello Brian,

So I originally came to LA for modeling, I was fresh outta the cornfields and landed an agency and was shooting for the cover of Maxim in the Czech Republic before I even signed my lease in LA, came here, did a lot of modeling and one day randomly got a call to be an extra on Transformers 2, this was not really my cup of tea as I didn't care to act but I agreed, I went on set, was terrified of Michael Bay and he ended up liking my look and brought me back 3 more days for still an extra but a featured part with a higher rate. I also did stand in for Isabelle Lucas on that film and after that I said, "Why don't I give this a shot? It can't hurt" and here I am. That was the Summer of 2008.

Brian  S-You're currently filming 'The Land of the Astronauts', what can you tell our readers about this film?

KJ- It is a psychological thriller about a man who goes from success to being a successful screenplay writer to a limo driver for actors. He has severe chemical dependancy among other mental things wrong with him. I don't want to give too much away yet. I must say David Arquette was a great pick for the role, he really did an amazing job with the charactor. The producer of the film too is one of my favorite men, my boyfriend Jordan Yale Levine, he's 25 and has executive produced and produced about 9 films! He's great and did a great job with this movie.

Brian  S- You play Roxanne in the film, what can you tell us about her?

KJ- Roxanne is an emo gothic band member, I wasn't a lead, It's definetley not a large role but the scenes were very fun and interesting!

Brian  S- You do a lot of modeling too Katy, what's the latest modeling gig you've done and when and where can we pick this up?

KJ- I did the cover of GGW magazine in June, It's already out. It's not like the Girls Gone wild dvd, so don't think that. Ha! It's all clothed and is more pg than maxim. The idea was natural girls taking pics that, say theyre boyfriends would take if they picked up the camera one morning. I have veered away from the sexy Maxim, Playboy stuff to more fashion and editorial, I just shot the LookBooks for Dress To Kill Clothes and Hannah Jo Clothing. Those were fun and more my style!!

Brian  S- Ok, totally off the subject here! You was going to be a Police Officer! I must say I've been arrested a time or three in my life(not proud of that Mom and Dad) and none of my arresting officers looked like you! What got you into that and steered you away from it?

KJ- I wanted to be a police officer because I truly love helping people and I am not your typical caddy, stuck up, girl. I don't judge people, I think everyone has potential to be great and I just wanted to help people better themselves and their community and wanted to be a hero in someone's life. I wanted to keep people safe and just give back to the community. I was blessed growing up in a small and safe town where we didn't have to lock out doors at night so I think sense of security is important. I also am kind of a control freak so to me having control to do whatever I wanted was a nice idea. I hate rules. I think as long as your not hurting anyone, who cares?! Anyway, after 2 yrs at college I was very interested in the field and the classes, my favorite was Theories of Interrogation, It teaches you how to tell if people are lying and how to get a confession, I've definetly used this on some shady guys! I had to let it go though because I was modeling a lot and traveling and missing class, I ended up losing my acheademic scholarship so I thought well I think I'll move to Hollywood where I don't need a degree and handcuffs. I'll just make money smiling and looking pretty.

Brian  S- Ok, you have a role in (my hero) Tim Sullivan's 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams,  how'd you fall into this cool horror gig and who do you play?

KJ- I met Tim through a mutual friend, who was supposed to be in the movie as well. I met Tim going for the role of Bristol Bush, a smaller role and Tim ended up loving me at our meeting and about an hour after the meeting he called me and said "Katy, Look I know I met with you for Bristols' role but I really think you'd be good for the female lead Rome. You are just her to a tee as far as the looks of the character so I was so excited and honored to do that, so I played Rome Sheraton, a Paris Hilton spoof, I also have a sister named Tina played by Asa Hope. It was such a fun role and we just had a blast in all of our scenes! We all connected really well, as far as me, my sister, and the 2 boys who played our loser boyfriends Jordan Yale Levine and Trevor Wright. Jordan Yale and I actually got into our roles so well we are actually a real life couple now living together in Sherman Oaks in a beautiful new townhouse. He's typically a producer but he kind of acted in that movie last minute so you see it all worked out how it should. He was one of the best things that came from that movie and Tim has already informed us he must be the best man since he hooked it up, the ironic part is that I was originally supposed to play Bristol and Jordan Yale was supposed to Play Bristols' Guy Jerry and then I got casted as Rome instead and then Jordan Yale got casted very last minute as K Jay, my boyfriend.

Brian  S- Can you tell us if you're a victim or a heroin? Do you live?  (It's ok if you can't!)

KJ- I really can't tell you that! I want you on your seats the whole movie! Let's just say the ending is great!

Brian  S- You got to hang out with a bunch of cool actresses/ lady Maniacs like the returning Christa Campbell ,Lin Shaye and also afew more newbies Alana Curry  and Kathryn Le. Do you have any fun stories, you know just the girls hanging out kind of stuff?

KJ- Haha, You wish I had stories! I know, I know, you wanna hear the juicy pillow fight in underwear kind of stories right? Ha! Well there sadly was none, I was dealing with drama outside of the movie and kept to myself a lot and when I wasn't on set or in my room you could find me next door in Jordans' room! We had a lot of fun and neither one of us thought it'd go to where it has now.

Brian  S- How was the Tim Sullivan experience for you?

KJ- All I can say is Tim is F'ing amazing, He's amazing to work for and I would do any movie with him any day! He's so fun and encouraging on set and always is open to ideas and just an easy guy to work with and is just so kind with no ego. I really have nothing negative I could ever say about him. He is a great Director and Man!

Brian  S- What's next for you? Where can we find you next?

KJ- I actually have some stuff in store more with modeling, I've been doing like I said some fashion look books and now I'm working on a few editorials for some bigger companies. Nothing is set in stone yet so I do no wanna jinx anything. I also am just waiting for another movie I did last February called Nightfall to get it's USA distribution so that will come out, I play a mean girl named Sophie who is dumped by the popular "it" guy Avery for the gothic nerdy girl who is secretly a vampire, It was my first film and a lot of fun to work on but I can definetly see the difference in my acting from each movie. Shari Shaw my acting coach is really great and has helped me so much!

Brian  S-  Another professional, broadcast journalist/ roving reporter question right here Katy. What did you get for Christmas? Go ahead!

KJ- Oops, I wanted an American girl doll and I FINALLY got one! I know I'm a nerd but I wanted one growing up so badly but my parents couldn't justify spending 150 dollars on a doll so I never got one till Jordan got me "Molly". Ha, I want the WHOLE collection now. I know, Keep laughing, I also need a new gaming system so I can play Halo!!!

Brian  S- Ok Katy, is there anything you'd like to ask me? It's ok don't be shy, I can take it!  But seriously, is there anything you'd like to tell your fans out there in la-la land?

KJ- To my fans, hmmmmmm You guys are gonna LOVE Maniacs 2! It was such a funny movie to work on! I love all of you and your support and I hope to bring you more and more fun and sexy stuff! Oh, My star meter this week was 2500 !!!! haha, Imdbpro.com. It's a big deal! haha. Again, I'm a huge dork but I was pretty excited about that. On a more serious note, check out my suicide awareness group atwww.myspace.com/katyjohnsonvssuicide. It's my next big venture and I'm really looking forward to helping and doing all I can for the cause. Also Donate to Haiti! They need it, you can go to the American Red Cross website to do so, even a dollar makes a difference! Have a beautiful 2010 everybody and God Bless!!! XOXO!

Brian   S- Thanks again Katy! I wish you much more success in the future and I do look forward to seeing you in more movies and on more magazine covers! Hey I'm a dude I can't help myself!
