Warner Bros. Hires a Mortal Writer for Kombat

Hey GT readers, I have some information for you regarding the reboot of Mortal Kombat. A writer by the name of Oren Uziel is in talks to pen the script for the reboot of the Mortal Kombat film, making it the third movie of the franchise. The writer does not have any films listed on imdb.com, but is credited as having scripted a 2009 black list film called Shimmer Lake. The black list is a compilation of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. According to imdb.com, a man by the name of mink (yes, all lowercase) is attahced as the director of the reboot. mink directed the Steven Segal film Into the Sun as well as the gangster film Full Clip starring non other than Busta Ryhmes and "X to the Z" Xzibit.

I for one am pumped at the prospect of a new MK film because I have always been a fan of the universe that Ed Boon and John Tobias created with the first game back in 1992. I think that the first MK movie was the best video game adaption to date since the filmmakers did not change too much from the original material (not that there was much to base on, but still). My only complaint of the film was that it was missing the famous Fatalities from the game due to its PG-13 rating. I have a feeling that if and when this 3rd MK film gets made, it will have the same rating unfortunately. I want to see a hard R-rated flick with as much of the finishing Fatalities as possible. The second film in the series, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, was one of the worst sequels ever made, yet I have watched it over twenty times because its so bad that its entertaining. Please revisit the movie because it falls into the category of, "its so bad its good." What do our readers think of a reboot of the franchise?

Have a better one
