THE HOBBIT Will Start Production in June!

It seems as if something good is going on over at MGM regardless of their financial troubles. Yesterday we reported that they are going to move forward with Bond 23 with director Sam Mendes, and that they are putting it on the fast track.

Today Production Weekly reports that Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson's adaptation of JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit is going to start a 14 month production schedule this coming June in New Zealand.

Does this mean that the film finally got the production green light? Or are they just planning ahead? For the longest time we have been hearing that it hasn't received a green light and that the studio was waiting for the financial problems to be resolved. Regardless of what is going on, this is some great news!

With James Bond yesterday and The Hobbit today it seems like MGM may be close to finding a solution or closing a deal with a buyer. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

As of right now Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen, Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett are expected to reprise their roles from The Lord of the Rings trilogy in The Hobbit
