DreamWorks Animation Adapting the short film ALMA into a Feature Film with Guillermo del Toro

Last year we shared a fantastically frightening holiday animated short called Alma with you. The film was awesome, and simply beautiful. The short was created by Rodrigo Blaas, and it centers on a young girl who gets lured into an enchanted toy store, drawn in by its beautiful collection of dolls, including one that looks just like her. She discovers only too late that the shop is nefariously intent on adding her to its permanent collection.

Now DreamWorks animation and director Guillermo del Toro are currently in the process of adapting this short CGI film for the big screen. He will be producing the film, and the original director of the short will write and direct it. Blass has also worked on several Pixar movies including Finding Nemo and Up as well as several of its shorts.

Blaas is also going to be co-directing Trollhunters with Del Toro, which shows how much talent Del Toro see's in this guy. Blaas worked on the short in his spare time while working on his Pixar project.

I'm really excited to see Alma being turned into a feature film over at DreamWorks! This is going to be a great film. What do you all think?

For those of you who haven't seen this short yet, you can watch it below!
