GOODFELLAS Prequel Coming To TV

There has been talk of a Goodfellas television show and now there is confirmation.  Nicholas Pileggi, author of Wiseguy which Goodfellas is based and Martin Scorsese are currently planning a TV series that will be a prequel to the original film.

The series is said to revolve around the early life of Henry Hill, played by Ray Liotta in the film.  In a recent interview with Culture magazine Nicholas Pillegi made the following statement,

"I want to do it, Marty wants to do it, Warner Bros wants to do it. Of course, you can't pick up from Goodfellas, since we murdered everybody, or rather, everybody was murdered! There's nobody left."

The quick manner in which the flashbacks were shot leaves a lot of room to embellish further on the story of Hill's youth in my mind. Scorsese has definitely taken a shine to TV with his successful involvement in Boardwalk Empire.  If the production value for this Goodfellas inspired show is anything like that then we are in for a treat.

Do you think this sounds like a show you would tune in to watch?
