Director Carl Eric Rinsch leaves LOGAN'S RUN Remake to Focus on 47 RONIN

Carl Eric Rinsch, director of the short film The Gift, has been working towards getting his first feature length film off the ground for some time now. The question has been, what film will it be? He was going to direct the Alien prequel before Ridley Scott took over the project. He may also still be attached to the remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon, but there's been no movement on it. And, he was also attached to direct the remake of Logan's Run for Warner Bros. Then there is the Keanu Reeves Samurai film 47 Ronin. 

It was recently reported that Rinsch is dropping out as the director of Logan's Run so he can focus his attention on bring Universal Picture's 47 Ronin to life, which is set and ready to go. 47 Ronin is an epic period film based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.

Now for a little history lesson:

The revenge of the forty-seven Ronin took place in Japan at the start of the eighteenth century. The story tells of a group of samurai who were left leaderless and became ronin after their daimyo (feudal lord) was forced to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka, whose title was Kōzukeno suke. The ronin avenged their master's honor after patiently waiting and planning for over a year to kill Kira. In turn, the ronin were themselves forced to commit seppuku, as they had known they would be, for committing the crime of murder. This true story was popularized in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence, and honor that all good people should preserve in their daily lives.

The movie is scheduled to be released on November 21, 2012. This is going to be such an awesome film. Just the story alone is badass.
