Larry Charles to Direct Sacha Baron Cohen in THE DICTATOR
It looks like director Larry Charles is once again going to team up with Sacha Baron Cohen for a film called The Dictator. The two talents worked together on the film Borat. It was reported earlier that Charles would not be directing the film, but it looks like that's all changed.
The film is about the parallel stories of a goat herder and deposed foreign dictator who gets lost in this country. Cohen will play both characters. This seems like a perfect film for these two guys to get involved with. They've made a great team in the past. This film has nothing to do with Charlie Chaplin's film of the same name.
There are reports saying that The Dictator wil be Baron Cohen's next film, after he's finished with Martin Scorsese's Hugo Cabret.
Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer, and David Mandel wrote the script for the film, they also wrote the comedy EuroTrip, and they have all worked on the HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry Charles.
