Eli Roth Green Lights that Fake CLOWN Film he Didn't Make

Movie Eli RothHorror by Joey Paur

Remember that fake horror movie trailer we showed you called Clown? The filmmakers slapped Eli Roth's name on the fake trailer even though Roth had nothing to do with it. Roth saw the trailer, liked what he saw, contacted the guys that made the trailer, Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford, and offered them a production deal to turn the Clown trailer into a full length feature film! How cool is that! It's amazing to see all of these short films and fake trailers getting picked up and turned in full length feature films.

The story follows a loving father who "dons a clown outfit, wig, bulbous nose and pancake makeup to entertain at his son's sixth birthday after the clown-for-hire is a no-show. Unable to take off the clown garb, dad's personality changes in horrific fashion. He and his family race to break the curse of the evil outfit before he undergoes a complete transformation into a homicidal killer with over-sized shoes."

This will make for a really fun horror film, especially for people who are scared of Clowns. Eli Roth will serve as a producer on the project, and issued a statement saying,

I loved how ballsy they were, issuing a trailer that said, 'From the Master of Horror, Eli Roth.' Some people thought I'd made the movie, or that it was another fake Grindhouse trailer. The first thing they said was, 'Thank you for not suing us, but I told them, 'This is Hollywood, and while it's tradition that every movie eventually ends up in a lawsuit, you only sue when you are fighting over profits. It's no fun to sue before there's any money.' But I really felt these guys deserved a shot, and that people are truly freaked out by evil clowns. It's new territory to make this a version of The Fly, where this guy can feel himself changing, blacking out only to find blood all over his clown suit. You're sympathetic toward a monster until the monster actually takes over.

Watts will direct the film from a script he's writing with Ford. Before this all happened they worked on commercials and music videos.

Roth is also producing another film called Aftershock, which is set during the aftermath of the February 27, 2010 Chilean earthquake that hit 8.8 on the Richter scale. "It created a tsunami and claimed the lives of more than 480 in one terrifying event." Nicolas Lopez will direct from a script he has written with Guillermo Amoedo.

Roth is currently producing a kung fu film he co-wrote with RZA called Man With The Iron Fists, as well as a remake of a horror film called Funhouse. The next film he will direct is his sci-fi film Endangered Species.

What do you all think of Roth bringing this Clown film into full on development?
