Mike White to Direct PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES?

After the success of AMC's The Walking Dead, I have a feeling we're going to see a ton of new zombie films hitting the big screen in the near future. Seth Grahame-Smith's novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a project that Lionsgate has been trying to get in front of audiences for awhile now, but as you know it recently fell apart when both the director David O' Russell and the star Natalie Portman dropped out of the project.

Lionsgate is now looking for someone to fill the two vacant spots. According to The LA Times screenwriter/director/actor Mike White is at the top of the list to take on the the directing duties for the film.

White doesn't have much experience in the directors chair, but apparently he's who the powers that be want to take on the project. White directed the dark comedy The Year of the Dog, and also wrote films such as School of Rock, Orange County, Chuck & Buck. According to sources, "White is seen as one of the few candidates who can handle the film's many tones." I guess we'll have to wait and see what he does with it if he ends up with the job.

The LA Times also notes that Let Me In director Matt Reeves will not get the directing gig even though he was rumored as one of the possible directors. The other directors on the list included David Slade (30 Days of NightMike Newell (Prince of PersiaNeil Marshall(Doomsday), Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs), Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield), and the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

It was also previously reported that Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper could end up starring in the film.

What do you all think about Mike White possibly directing this highly anticipated film project?
