Ryan Gosling Offered Lead Role in the Sci-Fi Film, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

It looks like Ryan Gosling has been offered the role of Private Billy Cage in Doug Liman‘s  new sci-fi film adaptation of the Hiroshi Sakurazaka novel All You Need Is Kill. The storyline combines a Groundhog Day plot device with a futuristic alien invasion storyline.  A young, inexperienced private is killed in action, only to be reborn the day before, forced to repeat his fate. Eventually, he becomes a better warrior (that, and other circumstances are changing), which might be the key to altering the outcome.

Warner Bros. paid around $3 million dollars for a script written by Dante Harper, so it must have been freakin' awesome! This wont be a cheap film to make.  This is an epic high concept film that's going to need a pretty big budget.

It’s coming back to do it again and again…When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?

I love the idea behind the book, and Gosling is a fantastic actor that would be a great to see in a film like this. This casting isn't confirmed yet, so it could easily change in the future as the film gets further into development.
