Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink has been named the director of the upcoming reboot for The Toxic Avenger.  Deadline has reported that Steve Pink will not only direct The Toxic Avenger but will also co-write it with Daniel C. Mitchell.

It was back in April that Troma released the rights to Akiva Goldsman, Richard Saperstein and Charlie Corwin. This deal included the original Toxic Avenger, four sequels, the animated series and comic books.  Kerry Foster who runs Goldsman's Weed Road will executive produce along with Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Hertz with Toxie co-creator Shara Kay serving as producer.

Charlie Corwin's Original Media is funding the project which is being called an environmentally conscious action-comedy. All of us horror fans remember Toxie, his complexion and his mop he carried around mixed in with all the cheesy gore but I believe he might be getting a make-over and be toned down for the reboot.

Steve Pink had this to say;

"The Toxic Avenger is exactly what the country--wait, that's not big enough--what the world needs right now."

Is anyone excited about an environmentally safe Toxic Avenger?

This is a picture of The Toxic Avenger action figure which I didn't know existed until now and I must have one!
