Julia Roberts and Charlize Theron to Play Evil Queens in two Different SNOW WHITE Movies

There are several different Snow White film projects going into production soon, and it looks like two of theseprojects have found their Evil Queens in Julia Roberts and Charlize Theron

According to Deadline, Roberts is being pursued for the The Brothers Grimm: Snow White movie being directed by Tarsem Singh (The Fall). I'm looking forward to seeing what this movie is going to look like visually, especially with Singh directing it. Brett Ratner, who is producing the film, talked about the project in a previous interview saying,

This is not your grandfather’s Snow White. Melisa [Wallack, who wrote the script] went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney’s film. His dwarfs were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we’re going to do.

Then there's Theron who is up for the Evil Queen role in Universal Pictures Snow White and the Huntsman, which will be directed by Rupert Sanders. That film is also rumored to be after Michael Fassbender for the part of the titular woodsman. This isn't the first time we've heard Theron was going to be in the movie. This news just confirms what we've heard.

This Snow White film will feature a bigger role for the Huntsman character. In the fairy tale, he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead lets her go. In the new take, the Huntsman is not a love interest but acts more as a mentor, teaching Snow White to fight and survive.

I can see Roberts and Theron both playing evil queens in this Snow White fairytale world. It will be interesting to see how these films turn out!

Snow White and the Huntsman has a set release date of December 21st 2012 while the Ratner's The Brothers Grimm: Snow White project has no specific release given.
