Damon Herriman Joins Cast Of Clint Eastwood's J. EDGAR

Clint Eastwood‘s J. Edgar written by Dustin Lance Black will begin filming in the new year and has just gained a new cast member.

The Playlist is reporting that Australian actor Damon Herriman has been cast in a very unique role. Herriman will play Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby. His conviction later came into question however, with police accused of doctoring evidence as well as ignoring and intimidating witnesses. The questions raised prompted Hoover to launch an FBI inquiry into the handling of the case.

Herriman has appeared in a number of film and TV roles in Australian. He may be familiar to American audiences after his recent five episode stint on the FX series Justified as Dewey Crowe. He also starred in The Square from director Nash Edgerton.

Herriman will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, playing a young J. Edgar Hoover and Armie Hammer as his assistant/closeted lover Clyde Tolson. Charlize Theron is currently in talks to join the film as Helen Gandy, a Justice Department file clerk who worked for Hoover as his personal secretary for more than 50 years.

Theron is considering this role and the role of the evil queen in Rupert SandersSnow White And The Huntsman. Both of these films are begin filming in early 2011. Even though the role in Snow White would be bigger than her role in J. Edgar it may be hard for her to turn down the chance to work alongside DiCaprio and Eastwood.

What are your thoughts on this news? Which role would you rather see Theron in?
