Sam Mendes Still On to Direct BOND 23

MGM recently announced that they want to proceed with making Bond 23, and they're looking to release a new James Bond film every two years starting in November of 2012. We weren't sure if director Sam Mendes was still attached to direct the film until today when his wife Kate Winslet revealed in an interview that Mendes still plans on developing the next James Bond film.

Mail Online says the filmmaker is expected to start production on the movie towards the end of next year. Winslet explained that she'll move to the UK with her children during that time so they can be close to their father. Here's what she had to say,

Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we'll all be in England if that happens. It's such a massive commitment for him and it's not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me.

The site added that Mendes and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli have already had many meetings over casting, and Ms Broccoli has visited the play Deathtrap twice to see Simon Russell Beale perform. The leading actor is an old friend of Sam’s and they want to work together again.

I'm happy that Mendes is still directing the movie.  He is a talented director who can give 007 a new and different flavor for fans to enjoy.
