20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA To Be In 3D!

Collider did an awesome interview with David Fincher recently and they discussed his numerous films in the works, including 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Fincher revealed that this film will mark his first project to be show in 3D.

When asked about the film being in 3D Fincher reponsded, “Yeah. 20,000 Leagues will be 3D,” He went on to say that he thinks 3D is “cool…when it’s done right.”

The screenplay for Leagues is from Scott Z. Burns who wrote The Bourne UltimatumThe Informant and Contagion. As of now the film is not officially Fincher's next film according to the director who stated, “I think that there’s a lot of movies that could be my next film.”

Fincher also confirmed a slew of other films he has on his slate to direct such as Rendezvous With RamaHeavy MetalThe Killer and The Reincarnation Of Peter Proud. Each of these films are being written/rewritten to meet Fincher's preferences. He also confirmed that the culinary sex comedy, Chef (which was to star Keanu Reeves) is now dead. During a Social Network Q&A  Fincher also confirmed that Ness (once attached with Matt Damon, Casey Affleck and Rachel McAdams) had also been killed.

If Dragon Tattoo turns out to be the hit that everyone expects it should, Fincher could direct it's sequel The Girl Who Played With Fire

Here is what Fincher had to say:

“I believe that there’s a script that has to be written for the second movie. We have to have an audience that wants to see a second movie. We have to make room for another Bond movie. So there’s a lot of elements that come into play."

With MGM roaring back to life, Bond 23 is a huge priority so that will impact when Daniel Craig can shoot the film.

The more movies I watch in 3D I am beginning to warm to the idea of having to wear the annoying glasses over my own four eyes. The idea of such a visionary director as Fincher working in the 3D realm is very exciting to me!

What are your thoughts on this news and the projects that Fincher has lined up?
