We were surprised at how good the teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's sequel to Wall Street was. That one focused mainly on Michael Douglas, reprising his role as Gordon Gekko, as he's released from prison. This new trailer, packed with 2:30 minutes of nearly all new footage, reveals more of the plot and focuses more on the relationship between Shia LaBeouf, who plays a hungry young hedge-funder, and Carey Mulligan (An Education, Brothers), Gekko’s estranged daughter. LaBeouf is obsessed with the disgraced but famed Gekko, while Mulligan wants nothing to do with he father, whom she still doesn't trust.
Official Synopsis for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps:
Emerging from a lengthy prison stint, Gordon Gekko finds himself on the outside of a world he once dominated. Looking to repair his damaged relationship with his daughter, Gekko forms an alliance with her fiancé Jacob (Shia LaBeouf), and Jacob begins to see him as a father figure. But Jacob learns the hard way that Gekko – still a master manipulator and player – is after something very different from redemption.
The teaser had me pumped up, with the pulsating rock music and the proper looking return of Gekko, but with the Rolling Stone's lending the music this time around, and the amazingly intense web Stone seems to have woven with these new characters, I'm completely sold!
Josh Brolin, Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, Vanessa Ferlito and Charlie Sheen also star.
Money Never Sleeps hits theaters April 23rd. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
