New JUDGE DREDD Film Will Be Better than the Original

Movie Judge Dredd by Joey Paur

If you can believe what Judge Dredd creator John Wagner says about the new Judge Dredd movie that is currently being developed, then it's not going to be as bad as the first film. He throws out some very positive vibes for this new film after having read the script by 28 Days Later writer Alex Garland, and seeing comic book artist Jock's production designs. When giving an interview with fansite 2000AD Wagner had this to say:

While I can't go into detail about the content I can say that it's high-octane, edge of the seat stuff, and gives a far truer representation of Dredd than the first movie. I hated that plot. It was Dredd pressed through the Hollywood cliché mill, a dynastic power struggle that had little connection with the character we know from the comic. Confident [about it being a better movie]? I will be once I hear they've started filming. There's many a slip.

Now in case you haven't heard yet, director Danny Boyle is producing the film, and with Garland on board as the writer I have a feeling this next Judge Dredd film is going to be worth it. I remember watching the original Dredd film growing up, and I hated it, still do. It seems like this time around we are finally going to get a Judge Dredd film worth watching.

What are your thoughts on a new Judge Dredd movie knowing that there's a strong possibility it will be better than the original?
