TV Spot for THE RUNAWAYS

Here's the first TV spot for writer-director Floria Sigismondi's biopic of The Runaways. The film starsKristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie, and follows the band's formation and overnight success.

I caught the film at Sundance, and you can read Venkman's review which I agree mostly with. I absolutely loved Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) as famed rock producer Kim Fowley, and the rest of the cast turned in solid performances. But the flow of the overall film felt very gas-break-gas-break, and I wasn't quite sold on the depiction of time -- roughly 8 years pass from the start of the film to the last scene... and it feels like one summer. I think The Runaways' story is amazing, and I think the movie will appeal to a teen audience, but I haven't met someone my age or older thrilled with the movie.

Check out the TV spot and sound off in the rant back section below. The Runaways hits theaters March 19th.

Synopsis:

The movie chronicles THE RUNAWAYS from 1975 - 1977; formed by teenage girls living near Hollywood, CA., and heavily manipulated by their manager Kim Fowley as 'jailbait rock' (all the girls were 16 or younger when the band recorded their first album). The band ultimately succeeds on their own merits as musicians, becoming the first all-girl rock-band to ever break into the world of arena-filling hard rock acts.
