A WRINKLE IN TIME Film Adaptation being Directed by Jeff Stockwell

Movie by Joey Paur

The classic 1962 Newbery Medal-winning sci-fi novel written by Madeline L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time, is going to be adapted into a film that will be directed by Jeff Stockwell. Stockwell has directed films such as The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys and Bridge to Terabithia. So its got a decent director.

Here's the official book description for those of you who need a reminder or introduction to the novel.

Meg Murry, her little brother Charles Wallace, and their mother are having a midnight snack on a dark and stormy night when an unearthly stranger appears at their door. She claims to have been blown off course, and goes on to tell them that there is such a thing as a "tesseract," which, if you didn't know, is a wrinkle in time.

Meg's father had been experimenting with time-travel when he suddenly disappeared. Will Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin outwit the forces of evil as they search through space for their father?

The BBC made a film version of the young-adult novel, and Dimension produced a telefilm for ABC in 2004. Disney carried remake rights from that deal and is developing the new feature iteration with Bedrock Studios, which had negotiated rights to the property from the L'Engle estate.

I loved this book as a kid, but with any film adaptation of something, I'm always afraid the story is going to get butchered in the filmmaking process. I hope the adaptation gets a decent film production, and that they are able to develop a strong script. I'd love for this movie to turn out great.
