Brandon Routh Joins the Cast of THE WALKING DEAD

Frank Darabont’s highly anticipated new zombie AMC TV series The Walking Dead seems to be coming along quite nicely. We have Andrew Green whose been cast as the lead character in the story, Rick Grimes.Jon Bernthalhas also been cast in the series as Officer Shane, who is one of the key players in the story. Now we have word from Bloody-Disgusting that Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) has also been cast in the post-apocalyptic zombie TV series. No word yet on what character he will play in the story, but seeing as he’s a pretty good and well known actor, I'm sure it will be a key role in the series.

AMC has already ordered 6 episodes for the series, and we’re off to a great start. I am looking forward to seeing what Darabont has planned for this. He is both the writer and director of the series, and one of my all time favorite directors. This guy knows how to tell a great story. The Walking Dead is being adapted from the long running comic book series by Robert Kirkman, about a group of zombie survivors that are led by a police officer named Rick Grimes. The story is incredibly dark and grusome.

Heres the official description of the comic.

An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.

What do you think about Routh joining the cast of The Walking Dead?
