John Hillcoat Directed Animated TV Adaptation of RED DEAD REDEMPTION

The talented director John Hillcoat who has made some great films such as The Road and The Proposition has actually directed a 30 minute animated TV short based on the video game Red Dead Redemption. The guy was supposed to direct a depression era crime drama called The Wettest Country which had a great little cast that included Shia Labeouf, Ryan Gosling, Scarlett Johanson, Paul Dano, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon, but the movie fell apart due to finances, which sucked because it would have been a great movie.

So it looks like the next project we see from Hillcoat will be this new animated adaptation that he has developed. The animated Red Dead Redemption will hit the small screen on Saturday May 15th at midnight on FOX.

Here's the story Synopsis:

America, early 1900's. The era of the cowboy is coming to an end. When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is sent across the American frontier to help bring the rule of law. Experience intense gun battles, dramatic train robberies, bounty hunting and duels during a time of violent change. Red Dead Redemption is an epic battle for survival in a beautiful open world as John Marston struggles to bury his blood-stained past, one man at a time.

The animated show will use in-game assets. Making this animated series the world's longest video game commercial. Except it has a extremely talented film director pulling the strings.

Very cool, but also just a little weird. But at least we can look forward to a great 30 minute video game commercial!
