Olivia Thirlby is a young actress who you might know from films such as Juno and The Wackness. She recently got a great new acting gig and it looks like this might be one of the biggest roles of her career. She just joined a new sci-fi alien invasion film called The Darkest Hour, which is being set up at Summit Entertainment and New Regency.
The film will be directed by Chris Gorak from a script he is writing with Josh Zetumer. The film is also being produced by Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov.
The story takes place in Moscow and follows a group of Americans traveling in the city when an alien invasion occurs. Thirlby plays a trust fund girl trying to survive the attack who teams up with others to try to defeat the invaders.
The movie is scheduled to start shooting this summer in Moscow, and Bakmambetov will use his facilities to shoot the movie and create the special effects.
A film with a plot like this could end up going in so many directions and has the potential to end up being a decent film or a bad film. We really don't have much else to go on, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what it's like when the studio start releasing promo materials for it.
