A Sequel to ROUNDERS Is in the Cards

Movie by Joey Paur

For those of you who may not know, Rounders is a freakin amazing poker film that starred Matt Damon and Edward Norton, if you haven't seen it yet, repent and go watch it. I love this movie, it was just a very smart and well written film that was packed with some pretty fantastic actors.

Now the guys that wrote the film Brian Koppelman and David Levien are talking about a sequel to the film that started their careers. I seriously never thought that a sequel to this film would ever happen, but I would love to see where the characters are at in their lives at this point. Levien had this to say,

'Rounders 2' is something that we talk about because whenever we see Matt Damon, whenever we see Edward Norton, who we're friends with, we talk about doing it. We've kept in touch with ['Rounders' director] John Dahl. We have this idea that we really want to pick these characters up down the road. So it is something we plan to do, we just don't have it on the calendar yet.

Koppelman then comes in and talks about how they aren't going to make a sequel just for the sake of making one, if they make it... it's gonna be good.

We've made promises to a lot of people though that we won't do it if we can't find a way for it not to suck. Bill Simmons, the sports guy, is a huge 'Rounders' fan and he's said that he will publicly flog us if we do it in a way that will suck.

How great who it be to see Damon and Norton team up again for a sequel!? This is definitely some awesome news. It doesn't sound like it will happen anytime soon, but it sounds like it will happen.

The original 1998 film is about a a reformed gambler who must return to playing big stakes poker to help a friend pay off loan sharks. On top of Norton and Damon being in the film it also co-starred John Tururro, Gretchen Mol, Martin Landau, and John Malkovich
