Paul Greengrass Drops out of James Cameron's FANTASTIC VOYAGE

Movie Paul Greengrass by Joey Paur

Director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Films) has been attached to direct the James Cameron produced 3D adventure remake of Fantastic Voyage. Even though it was supposedly confirmed by several different sources that he was going to direct the film, apparently he was never really attached to it in the first place.

He decided to leave The Fantastic Voyage behind him so he could focus on a stylized adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel Treasure Island, which is being produced at Warner Bros. by Sherlock Holmes producer Lionel Wigram. Greengrass isn't 100% locked into Treasure Island either, so who knows if somewhere down the line he'll jump ship on that project as well.

Neither of these films seem to fit Greengrass' directing style, but I'm still interested to see what he does when directing a film like this. Maybe one day we'll find out, or maybe he'll just end up making another war thriller.
