Exclusive Interview: Actor Damien Colletti Vs. Brian  S

Damien Colletti is a young talent that has already been involved in movies, television and even professional wrestling and he's really just beginning. Check out what we talked about below, everything from how he got into the business to the cool projects he's working on now to his love of horror movies and Taco Bell.

Brian  S- Hey Damien, first off how did you get into acting?

Damien- Acting was something I’ve always wanted to do and thought about.  I remember watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s films (Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, etc.) when I was younger and loving them.  I thought to myself to be like Arnold would be the life and I’d love to do what he’s doing one day!  Lol.  My mother, Cathy Lyons Colletti, was a successful theater actress (also a produced playwright, published writer, and director) so I was around acting at a very young age and I use to watch her perform all the time.  One of her plays she wrote, “Who Killed the King of Rock ’N Roll”, is a murder mystery dinner theatre play which is still currently playing at different venues.  My mother was one of the best actresses I’ve ever saw perform and she was always in demand.   It wasn’t until about 3 ½ years ago I had the courage to pursue acting though and since then I’ve been cast regularly in films and TV shows.  The first speaking role I ever had in a full length film was in, “Methodic”, playing a Heroin Junkie.

Brian  S- When you're not working on a movie what are you doing?

Damien- In all honesty, thinking about my next acting related move or movie.  I’m as dedicated as they come and I just want to keep progressing with acting and film as I’m doing until I reach my goal.  My goal being going all the way to the top in this industry!   When I’m not doing that, good chance I’ll be eating some Taco Bell.  I hope to buy one of them one day, a Taco Bell.   That, and buy the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.  Not the mall there now though, the same one that was there in the 80s - mid 90s with those same stores from that time including the Spaceport!  You know, when the mall used to also have trees, water fountains, and a ramp in the center of the mall!

Brian  S- You've done a little bit of everything, from soaps to a wrestling ring announcer to our beloved horror movies. Do you have a favorite gig you prefer over the others?

Damien- I really enjoy doing them all because they’re all great in their own ways.  Wrestling is really cool for example because I’m in the ring with Wrestlers I grew up with watching on TV.  So when I announced my first match ever in UWF Wrestling which was with former ECW Champion, Balls Mahoney, that was pretty exciting.  Jim the “Anvil” Neidhart was also there that night as a special guest referee and ring enforcer so meeting him was a great experience as well.  If I had to pick one gig it would be doing movies though.  I just love leaving lasting impressions for a character I’m playing in a film that everybody will remember for years.

Brian  S- What would your dream role be?

Damien- I would have loved to play the role of, Frost, in the film “Blade”.   I would have also loved to have one of the male lead roles in the “Underworld” movie franchise opposite Kate Beckinsale.  So to have similar roles in films like those in the future would be great.   Another that comes to mind would be playing the hero or villain in a Super-Hero movie.  It would have been great to play Wolverine in “X-Men” for example.  That is a role I know I could play perfectly and I even have the sideburns to do it!   I did play Bullseye in a short film called “Elektra: The Hand & The Devil” by Blinky Productions which I really enjoyed doing and came out really well.  Watch “Elektra: The Hand & The Devil”:

Brian  S- Who are some of your favorite actors?
Damien- My favorite actors are: Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and Steve McQueen.   I love Marlon Brando’s work and acting style as well, especially in “On the Waterfront”.  I never took acting classes or lessons.  I learned my trade by studying these actors as well as other classic actors.   As far as actresses I enjoy the work of: Kate Beckinsale, Natalie Wood, Vanessa Marcil, and Jessica Lowndes.

Brian  S- How much fun are the action scenes you do, especially City Untouchable? Is that a real sword you're playing with? How do you train/prepare for these scenes?

Damien- Action scenes are great to do and I wish I could do more action films actually.   For my scene in “City Untouchable” they were supposed to bring two show swords.  The AD forgot to bring two so we had one real sword, and one show sword.  The girl in the scene with me who played a female assassin, Purvi Panwala, used the real sword, and I used the show sword.  So if she missed or I didn’t block her sword, it was me who would lose an arm or my head!   We swung pretty much full force at each other and I think that scene came out really well.  A show sword is slightly duller than a real sword by the way, both have equal weight though.   For that particular scene I did have some sword training at AMERI-KICK Karate Studio in Philadelphia, PA.  Besides that though I haven’t had any real fight or karate training.  I’ve just learned everything hands on from life experiences and watching Bruce Lee films growing up.

Brian  S- I watched 'Law Abiding Citizen' and it really was awesome!  Nothing like what I thought it'd be. I know you're in the movie but have you seen it?  That dude is ruthless!

Damien- Lol, yeah, I saw it hands on since I was in the film and also in the movie theater!   It was a really good thriller and I loved being a part of the film. I was so glad when the director, F. Gary Gray, personally picked me on set to play Officer Bruno in a scene with him.  In the scene Gary and I leave the Prison through a crowd of Police, Prison Officers, and news teams to meet with: Jamie Foxx, Colm Meaney, and Michael Irby.   Gary hands Jamie evidence proving they executed the wrong person.   I’m giving Colm Meaney a tough stern look the whole time, not trusting him at all.  Gary exchanges some lines with Jamie then pats me on my chest.  I reluctantly leave then Gary and I walk back into the Prison together talking softly into each others ears about what just happened.  I just wish so much of my scene wasn’t edited out of the film though!  Lol. Working on this film and being on a first name basis with Gary was a great experience that I’ll always remember!

Brian  S- Ok, getting to current movies, tell us what movies you're working on right now!

Damien- The 1st film I did for Gorezone Magazine, "Tales From the Underbelly of Hell: American Serial Killers", directed by James Morgart and starring Suzi Lorraine, should be available in the September issue of the magazine as a DVD insert. It will also air in the UK on Gorezone TV. We plan on filming the 2nd film for Gorezone in September.

Right now, it’s all about “The Sickness”!  In this film I play Toby, one of the leads in this ensemble cast which includes: Laura L. Cottrel, Gary Gustin, Fallon Maressa, Matt Kent, and Janet Searfoss.  Suzi Lorraine, Raine Brown, and Ruby Larocca have supporting roles in the film as well.  It's directed by Brandon E. Brooks and produced by SaintSinner Entertainment.  Toby does a lot of trash talking and tries to be a badass in this film.  But, either way he’s definitely pretty sleazy and hits on the ladies!   The film is about when one day part of the world goes mad!  Completely, insane!  They have....The Sickness!   A few survivors from the area escape to a farmhouse barn with hordes of rabid crazed people right outside and all around the area.  They’re hungry for flesh and blood!   How will these virtual strangers who have banded together survive?  Or, will they?  Only time will tell....

Lastly, I’m going to play Chad in Mudd Miller’s new horror film “The Wasteland Horror”.  Chad is a cop who gradually goes insane!   I was really impressed when I read the script.  This film is going to be awesome!   Suzi Lorraine, Julie Anne, and Deneen Melody are also linked to the film.   All are very talented people.  Myself and the Muddy one (Mudd Miller) have been talking more about the film the last couple of weeks and we’re trying to get Billy Idol to play a small role in the film.  But, if Billy’s not in this film, definitely the next one!

Brian  S- Since we're on the "current movie" thing.  How is it working with a creepy puppet on the set? Is he a puppet or an evil muppet?

Damien- Ahh!  You’re talking about my pal Larry in “No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell”!    Larry was a true professional on set and quite the ladies man too I must say!   Puppet?  No, Larry’s not a puppet he’s real!   We got along really well on set, Larry and I.   Well, that’s until he stole my beer in the one scene and was playing games with it.  Kevin (that’s me) doesn’t really take well to people messing with his beer.  In the film I play Kevin, the male lead (and only male actor in the film) along with several beautiful women, and an evil demon clown doll named Larry!  Lol. The film stars: Anne Ferrari, Julie Anne, Anju McIntyre, Max Wasa, Jacquelyn Velvets, Zoe Vargas, Monique Dupree, Vania Bezerra, Brandy Durante, and Jewel Elizabeth. It's directed by Robert Noel Gifford.   The film is about a doll that has a demon sleeping within it.  Jennifer finds and brings this doll into the home of Diane, who rents out rooms to a motley crew of beautiful women.   Jennifer becomes attached to this doll not knowing the true power it posses. Once the evil demon clown doll comes out to play, who’s game?   Or should I say, who’s left to see the light of day?  Lol.

Brian  S- When can we be looking for these cool movies?

Damien- The 1st film I did for Gorezone Magazine should be available very soon in a future issue of the magazine as a DVD insert.  It will also air in the UK on Gorezone TV.  We plan on filming the 2nd film for Gorezone in September.
No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell” is just about finished filming and should be available in early December this year.  It would make a great Christmas present for all!  Lol.

“The Sickness” is about halfway done filming so I’m not sure on a release date for it yet.   We start filming “The Wasteland Horror” in mid to late August.

Brian  S- Ok Damien, is there anything you'd like to say to the cool horror fans out there that'll be checking this out?

Damien- If you’re a real horror fan, please check out early horror films which helped paved the way for what we see today. Study your horror film history!   Because what we see today for the most part, are a lot of remakes!  Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Eaten Alive, Halloween (1978), My Bloody Valentine (1982), Aliens, Maniac Cop, etc. are the reasons why they’re remaking so many original films, because those films were great!
