Hey gang! I came across a great little video of director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) showing off some footage from a short film he made when he was only 14 years old. It was at this age where Jackson wanted to become a stop motion filmmaker like the legendary Ray Harryhausen. Jackson went out and hilariously tried to re-create some of the iconic scenes from Harryhausen's film The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. The footage actually came out really good.
During a tribute to Harryhausen at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Jackson pulled out his awesome old home movies and actually showed them to Harryhausen before presenting him with the Academy's Special Award.
The footage shows the 14-year-old Jackson doing a fight scene with an animated skeleton, only he never figured out how to composite the skeleton. There is then a great little cyclops scene that turned out pretty good for the young filmmaker.
