SPIDER-MAN, TURN OFF THE DARK to Open on Broadway, Finally

Comic Book by Wejo

Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, Across the Universe director Julie Taymor's musical based on Your Friendly Neighboorhood Spider-Man™, finally has a scheduled performance. The troubled production (rumored budget $40-50 million) will have its first preview performance on November 15 before its official premiere on December 21.

While it's quite impressive Taymor was able to actually keep everything together in the midst of constant cast and budget troubles, she's not out of the woods yet. The play will have to do EXTREMELY well to make a profit. At one point, she'd planned on taking it on the road but those plans seem to have been temporarily pushed to the side. Odds are something will be said in regards to that after seeing how well it does on Broadway.

Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark features Reeve Carney as our hero, Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson, and Patrick Page as Norman Osborne/The Green Goblin. The music was composed by U2's Bono and The Edge.
