X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Scenes Being Re-Written Because INCEPTION Used Similar Ideas

Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman have been buried in the process of writing the script for X-Men: First Class. But after seeing Christopher Nolan's Inception Vaughn had to throw out 12 pages of the script so that they could re-write them because the ideas they had were incredibly similar to what Nolan did in Inception. Vaughn spoke with The LA Times and described the effect that Inception had on his X-Men film.

I saw ‘Inception,’ which I loved…But my heart sank when I saw that a few of the ideas we had were up [on the screen]. So it’s either leave it in and look as if you’re copying or change things. We completely ripped out about 12 pages of the script and the storyboards. 

That my friends is a big chunk of script! But I guess it's better to change things up rather than having everyone think they ripped off Nolan's film. Hopefully they can come up with something awesome to fill in what they had to take out. The LA Times goes on to gives details on the scene Vaughn had to ditch.

…the jettisoned sequence was a sort of dream-space combat…the filmmaker said for the film the fight involving Professor X (James McAvoy) and some other mutants was to going to be presented with spinning rooms and other physics-bending imagery — visions that he felt drifted too close to signature moments in Inception.

Even though we may have seen something similar in Inception, I still think that could have ended up being a cool little scene. But now they are in the position to come up with something better and more original, its time for them to step up to the plate. It would be great if they came up with something we've never seen in a movie before.
