Black Widow Won't be the Only Woman in Whedon's THE AVENGERS

In a recent interview with the Sunday Herald Sun, Joss Whedon went on to talk a little bit more about his highly anticipated film The Avengers. In the interview he reveled that Black Widow won't be the only female character in the film. I honestly didn't think that she would be the only female, after all Whedon is know for working with some hot talented actresses on his projects. Here is what he had to say,

It is true that the movie is only going to have one female Avenger, but she will not be the only female character.

So she will be the only female Avenger, but what other characters will we see from the Marvel universe in the film? There are a good amount on non-Avenger characters to choose from, but Pepper Potts seems like a likely candidate.

As of right now Whedon is hard at work rewriting the script, he didn't really offer any other details on the plot of the film, but he did say that it would incorporate a number of different Avengers stories, both from the original comics and the Ultimates version of the characters:

It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles.

Whatever he has planned, it's cloaked in secrecy for now. So All we can do is take what MArvel has already done in the movies, and let our imaginations run wild.

The Avengers is set to be released on May 4th 2012.
