Doug Liman Attached to direct Adaptation of ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

Movie Doug Liman by Joey Paur

Director Doug Liman (Jumper, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Go, Swingers) is officially attached to develop the Warner Bros. sci-fi film project All You Need is Kill. Warner Bros. bought the script from sceenwriter Dante Harper back in April, and it looks like they are ready to movie it into development.

The film is based on an original Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka of the same name. Warner Bros. paid around $3 million dollars for the script so it must have been freakin' awesome! Liman was most recently attached to direct a Three Musketeer's movie for the WB, but he left the project to take on All You Need is Kill. He definitely made the right choice.

This isn't going to be a cheap film to make, this is an epic high concept film that's going to need a pretty big budget.

Here's the description of the book.

L to R (Western Style). There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again…When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?

It's like a sci-fi battle version of Groundhog Day. This sounds like it's got potential to be a pretty freakin awesome movie. It should be interesting to see who they end up casting in the film.

What do you all think about Doug Liman directing this film?
