ALL STAR SUPERMAN To Be Adapted As Animated Film

Comic BookMovie by LiamK

Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All Star Superman will be adapted as a rated PG-13 direct to video animated movie, according to Hollywood Reporter.  The cast includes James Denton (Superman), Christina Hendricks (Lois Lane), Anthony LaPaglia (Lex Luthor), Ed Asner (Perry White), and Frances Conroy (Ma Kent).  The DVD will be released sometime in the spring.

"...the story begins with the Man of Steel (Denton) oversaturated by radiation during a rescue mission near the sun, accelerating the degeneration of his cells. Knowing that he has a limited time before he dies, Superman sets out on a journey that sees him revealing his secret to Lois Lane (Hendricks), giving Lex Luthor (LaPaglia) an epiphany on humanity and ensuring the safety of Earth for when he is gone."

If you haven't read the book that is the source material for this project, seriously, run out and buy it right now.  It's a brilliant take on the Superman mythos that has a silver age quirkiness to it.  And not many people can keep up with Morrison's imagination like Quitely.
