Martin Freeman Top Choice to Play Bilbo Baggins in THE HOBBIT?
According to EW Martin Freeman could very well be the top of the list to play Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit!
There were rumors swirling around this week that he passed on the offer due to his commitment to the BBC series Sherlock. It doesn't look like that is the case now. Apparently an offer has been put out to the actor, and that the studio will work around his schedule.
Freeman is best known for his performance as Tim on the original BBC series The Office. Now it looks like he has the opportunity to move on to some pretty great things. An offer to play Bilbo Baggins!? Who in their right mind wouldn't take it? Especially if people are willing to work around his schedule.
The guy definitely looks the part! I loved him in the original Office series, so I have no problems with him taking the role. In fact I hope he does take it, I think he would do a great job! I also like the fact that he isn't really big star, the audience will be able to connect with the character a little more.
