It's been known for awhile now that the director of the the nazi zombie film Dead Snow, Tommy Wirkola was working on developing a new film called Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The film explores what happened to Hansel and Gretel 15 years after the gingerbread house incident. They have become bounty hunters that specialize in tracking down and killing witches!
There's now a new development with the film project. According to Twitch, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) revealed in an interview that he's up for the role of Hansel in the film, and that Noomi Rapace (The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo) is up for the role of Gretel.
Ummm... yell yeah! What a great team up that would be! I loved the idea of the film the first time I heard about it, but add these actors in the mix, and you have yourself a pretty fantastic movie.
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay loved the idea so much that they are going to produce it for Paramount Pictures. McKay said in a previous interview:
The idea is, they've grown up and they hunt witches. It's a hybrid sort of "old-timey" feeling, yet there's pump-action shotguns. Modern technology but in an old style. We heard it and we were just like, 'That's a freakin' franchise! You could make three of those!'
This is such a fun and cool idea, I can't wait to see this movie!
What do you all think of Renner and Rapace possibly taking on the lead roles in the film?
