Minka Kelly & Rachael Tayler In Talks For CHARLIE'S ANGELS

TV Drew Barrymore by

Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) and Rachael Taylor (Transformers) are currently in talks to star as the remaining two Angel's in ABC's Charlie's Angels pilot.

If cast, they would join Annie Ilonzeh previously cast in the pilot. Kelly's character will be renamed, Ilonzeh plays Kate and Taylor is Abby in the reboot of this series.

Sony Pictures TV and Drew Barrymore's Flower Films are producing the show, which did an extensive search for the 3 beautiful and tough characters. Producers took a shine to Kelly and are currently reworking the role just for her. As the cast stands now, the character, previously named Marisa, is described "as a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat and a neat freak."

Taylor's Abby will play the youngest and sassiest of the Angels, the "beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook who is an expert con artist herself as well as a Krav Maga expert."

Kelly left Friday Night Lights two years ago and has a recurring role on NBC's Parenthood, produced by Imagine TV, the same company that produces FNL. She will next be seen in the thriller The Roommate from Screen Gems on Feb. 4.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script for the Charlie's Angels pilot and are executive producing with with Leonard Goldberg, executive producer of the original series, Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen.

I mildly enjoyed the films that Barrymore starred in, but have always felt the story is best suited for the small screen. It will be interesting to see if this version has a bit more grit than the original.
