CES 2011: A Look Inside Pepcom - The Digital Experience

Greetings Programs!

The Consumer Electronics Show is a cornucopia of gadgets, technology, and geek porn. It feels impossible to see all there is to see, and companies recognize this, so special events are set up to give press the opportunity to have more one-on-one time with neat new tech. Pepcom is one such event, and Logitech Guest Bloggers Android Ashley and I were able to attend it this year.

I knew we were in for a fun time when, walking through Caesar's Palace, we were directed to our destination by lovely ladies in skin-tight alien suits. This Close-Encounters themed invitation-only get-together was part networking event, part exhibition, and part crazy party complete with an open bar.

Ashley, host of This Week in Mobile, went ga-ga over all the mobile tech on display. We had a great time talking with many of the manufacturers of Android & other devices, especially Samsung, who were demonstrating their gorgeous flexible AMOLED screens, and their transparent displays.

I paid close attention to the smart TV companies, and PlayOn was especially interesting to me as they demonstrated new ways to display content on the Logitech Revue and to get around certain limitations, such as providing an ability to watch Hulu on the Revue. I spent some time with my friends at the Logitech booth as well, though I was secretly thankful that I was no longer being asked to demo the product - that's tough work!

All in all I had a great time at the event, I got to see some interesting new technology, and had a more personal experience than I could ever get on the crowded, noisy CES show floor. Here are some of the pictures we took from Pepcom:

Thanks Logitech for inviting Nixie to cover all things CES! Check out Logitech's blog here and follow them on Twitter!
