Hugh Jackman talks about THE WOLVERINE Script

Hugh Jackman recently gave an interview in which he talked about the script for The Wolverine. According to the actor 85% of the original script for Darren Aronofsky's vision of the film by Christopher McQuarrie ended up in the new script written by Mark Bomback that is now being directed by James Mangold

Jackman seems very excited about this script, but he was also incredibly excited about X-Men Origins: Wolverine and we all saw who bad that turned out. Here's what Jackman had to say,

We had a script that was under Darren Aronofsky’s directorial—it’s 85 percent the same. Darren took it in a Darren Aronofsky way and it’s a version I know fans would have liked to have seen – I would have loved to have seen it. James Mangold’s version of the script brought Mark Bomback on. We always had a strong base there. This is the best script we have had, which is precisely why Darren signed on. I tried to get Darren to do X3 and Wolverine and he was always like, ‘It’s not really for me.’ I knew he was looking for a comic book movie and he read this one and he goes, ‘Hey, this is the best one I’ve ever read.’ So there is a lot of meat on the bone there. Now, Mark and Jim have taken it and I think that it as strong, if not stronger, than what we would have had with Darren.

If you look on the bright side at least they didn't completely throw out what McQuarrie wrote, and they kept the majority of it in the re-write. I guess we'll never know if the changes that were made actually made the film better or not. We can only hope this this next Wolverine film ends up being awesome. It's still a shame that Aronofsky had to drop out. Jackman is a showman and a cheerleader who does a great job at telling fans what they want to hear. He got us all excited for X-Men Origins: Wolverine though, and that ended up being crap so it's hard to tell if he really means what he say's these days. For all we know the new script could be crap.

Jackman also confirmed that the movie will begin filming as soon as he’s finished with his film adaptation of Les Miserables, and added that The Wolverine is all geared up and ready to go, everyone’s just waiting on him to finish Les Mis.

What are your thoughts on what Jackman had to say about the script?
