Tony Scott to direct and produce the action thriller NARCO SUB

Tony Scott has found his next directing gig. Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has purchased David Guggenheim's action thriller spec Narco Sub. Scott is directing and producing under his Scott Free productions shingle, along with Simon Kinberg through his Genre Films banner. The thriller is being compared to Scott's Crimson Tide and Man on Fire. Unfortunately the plot details are being kept quiet. Narco subs are semi-submersible crafts that South American drug cartels have used to smuggle cocaine into the U.S.

Guggenheim is a former Us Weekly editor who has lately been establishing himself as a sought after action writer in Hollywood. His projects include Universal's Safe House, which stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds and Medallion starring Nicolas Cage. He also penned Puzzle Palace, which McG is directing. He recently sold the pitch 364 to Universal Pictures with Ron Howard attached to direct. He also wrote Santiago for Fox.

I love Scott’s films and think this story sounds great. What are your thoughts on this news?
