Animatronic Space Jockey Being Built for Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS

Movie Prometheus by Joey Paur

It's been confirmed that the Space Jockey from Ridley Scott's Alien will indeed be a part of his upcoming sci-fi film project Prometheus. The alien is being designed as an 8-foot animatronic creature. This movie was originally supposed to be a prequel to the Alien film, but then transformed into this Prometheus project, which at first wasn't suppose to be a part of the Alien film universe, then all of a sudden it was. Here is a insider report from sky.com who first broke the news,

I’ve had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic.

I’ve also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there’s an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship.

I'm actually a bit more excited about this knowing that it's actually going to have a place in the Alien universe. I can't wait to see what Ridley Scott has planned.

As previously reported:

Noomi Rapace will play Elizabeth Shaw in the film, Michael Fassbender will be taking on an android role, and Charlize Theron is also in the film.

Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour) wrote the first draft of the script from Ridley’s idea. Since then, Damon Lindelof (LostStar Trek) and Scott have worked together on the current version which has expanded the story into new directions. Lindelof and Scott were only asked to use the 'Alien DNA' as the basis for the script. As you would expect the details are being closely guarded. Scott did reveal the outlines of the film and its genesis as follows:

“While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart.”

Here is what Lindelof had to say:

"In a world flooded with prequels, sequels and reboots, I was incredibly struck by just how original Ridley's vision was for this movie. It's daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects. When I sat in a movie theater as a kid, feet raised off the floor for fear that something might grab my ankles, I never dreamed in my wildest imagination I would one day get to collaborate with the man responsible for it. Working alongside him has been nothing short of a dream come true."
