Jesse McCartney set to star in LOCKE & KEY

TV by Joey Paur

Actor/singer Jesse McCartney has officially been cast in the upcoming TV pilot Locke & Key which is based on the comic book created by Stephen King's son Joe Hill. After a long extensive search he landed the lead male role in the series. The characters name is Ty, the eldest son of the Locke children. Ty was the closest with his dad in the story, and carries a special guilt for his father's death. The character isolates himself by retreating into his music, McCartney will also get to use his musical talents. McCartney never even crossed my mind as being cast in this role, but I guess we'll see how he does. He's kind of looks like the character.

McCartney will join Nick Stahl who was previously cast in the role of an art teacher named Duncan Locke, the younger brother who lives nearby and frequently visits.

The story follows Nina Locke and her three children as they move to Keyhouse, the family home in Lovecraft, MA to recover from an unspeakable horror.  Keyhouse is a mysterious New England mansion with fantastic and transformative keys that are hidden inside its walls. The keys are being are being sought after by a sinister and relentless creature with ties to the family's past who will stop at nothing to accomplish its goals.

The series is being directed by  Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo, Never Let Me Go) and produced by Steven SpeilbergAlex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, War of the Worlds) is writing the script.
