Tom Crusie likely to Star in AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS

Last year is was reported that Guillermo del Toro has been wanting to work with Tom Cruise for a while now. At the time of that report I said that if del Toro had his way then yes... Tom Cruise would be the star of his next film At the Mountains of Madness. Apparently the studio wanted James McAvoy, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen... Del Toro may end up getting his way. He wants Cruise to do it, Crusie wants to do it, and they are working out a deal with him.

The producer of the film, James Cameron recent talked to MTV regarding Cruise starring in the film, and here's what he had to say,

Tom does want to do the picture... I don't think we have a deal with him yet, but we're hoping to get that closed soon. Guillermo is madly working on a new draft of the script. Hopefully we'll be shooting by June or July.

The film project still hasn't gotten a green light from the studio yet. This is a big budget hard 'R' H.P. Lovecraft movie, and the studio has been little apprehensive on pushing it forward afraid that they might lose some money. Hopefully it gets the green light soon, especially if they are looking to start shooting this summer.

I think Cruise will end up doing a great job in the film. I'm just excited to see what Del Toro has planned for us! This is a great story, Del Toro's a great director, and Cameron is on board to help bring the 3D film to life technically. This movie can't loose.

The story is written in first-person perspective by the geologist William Dyer, a professor from Miskatonic University. He writes to disclose hitherto unknown and closely kept secrets in the hope that he can deter a planned and much publicized scientific expedition to Antarctica. On a previous expedition there, a party of scholars from Miskatonic University, led by Dyer, discovered fantastic and horrific ruins and a dangerous secret beyond a range of mountains taller than the Himalayas.

Who do you think of Cruise taking on the lead role in the movie?
