Exclusive Interview: Filmmaker Trent Haaga Vs. Brian  S

Trent Haaga's resume as a filmmaker includes acting (lot's of it), writing, producing, directing and few other odd jobs along his journey.  Gigs include the Killjoy movies from Full Moon in which he plays the evil demon clown Killjoy, he has been invloved in a Toxic Avenger movie from Troma and he has written what has become a cult classic in its very short life span, I'm talking about Dead Girl which gave Jenny Spain her break out role and if you haven't seen this cool movie I recommend you do so.  I got with Trent about his current projects and the rumors going around about a sequel to Dead Girl, oh it's real all right!  Check out my latest Versus to learn more about filmmaker Trent Haaga.

Brian  S- Hey Trent, first off congratulations on the popularity that Dead Girl has gotten and it just keeps on making its way to cult status. It's showing on Chiller right now!

Trent Haaga- Thanks, man! Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I always felt that the movie had the potential to be a kind of breakout film and it's looking more and more like we've created a genuine cult classic.

Brian  S- You write, produce, act and even directed your own film Chop.  What's your favorite to do.

Trent Haaga- All of the jobs have good and bad things about them ... but who doesn't love to be a director? I only wish I had done it earlier!

Brian  S- Best filming experience so far?

Trent Haaga- There have been a few great experiences, a lot of good ones, and a few lousy ones. But you always go back to your first ... making TERROR FIRMER was a great and special time in my life.

Brian  S- Dude you got to play the cool ass killer demon clown Killjoy!  How cool was that?

Trent Haaga- It was cool ... except for the temperature, which was hot. We shot in China during the hot and humid monsoon season and your head is buried in inches of foam latex and there's the giant wig and the gloves and costume ... But it's always fun to play the monster!

Brian  S- How is it working with Tammi Sutton?

Trent Haaga- It's always a pleasure ... Tammi and I have worked together on 4 movies and I'd do it again in a heartbeat if she ever asked!

Brian  S- The last we saw Dead Girl she' was running out into the wood, I asked Jenny Spain where she was headed, can you tell me where Dead Girl is running off to? Somebody said Taco Bell or the border, something like that?

Trent Haaga- That's for me to know and for you to hopefully find out someday.

Brian  S- I have to ask, is Dead Girl a vampire or a zombie?

Trent Haaga- I always thought of her as a zombie, but was very careful not to mention the Z word in the script. So I suppose it's up to the viewer to decide exactly what she is and where she comes from ... I never thought it was important to be specific for the story I wanted to tell ... There's nothing wrong with a little mystery in a story, as far as I'm concerned.

Brian  S- Ok, big question!  The rumors are out about a Dead Girl 2.  Tell me what's going on here!

Trent Haaga- I wrote a script and that's about all I can tell you right now. We'll see what happens!

Brian  S- Any other cool projects in the works?

Trent Haaga- Yeah, a few. But I don't like to talk about things until they're really happening. In this business, they aren't really happening until they're almost finished. I've always got a lot of irons in the fire….

Brian  S- Would you like to say anything to the cool horror fans and aspiring filmmakers checking this out?

Trent Haaga- Thanks for checking out my movies and I look forward to watching YOUR movies in the near future!
