Jeffrey Caine hired to write Ridley Scott's Gertrude Bell biopic

Ridley Scott is planning to direct a biopic about Gertrude Bell, and has hired Jeffrey Caine (The Constant Gardener) to write the script. He will be producing under the Scott Free banner with Giannina Facio for Fox. Bell, "born to privilege in England, the Oxford-educated Bell found her calling in the desert while visiting her diplomat uncle in Persia. She became a seminal figure in Middle East politics during the run-up to WWI, acting in roles that ranged from  archaeologist to diplomat, photographer and spy. While she helped sort out the borders of Iraq after the fall of the Turkish Empire, she lost favor with her government for strongly advocating Arab self-rule. The Brits preferred direct access to the oil fields." Scott and Facio see this as a great opportunity for a young actress to play the heroine.

I am excited to see Prometheus more than this film, but I am sure it willl look brilliant. Lawrence of Arabia is beautifully shot and this film will take place during that environment.
