Universal in talks to pick up Vince Vaughn's THE INSANE INLAWS

The Insane Laws, a relationship comedy from writer/director Jeremy Garelick, is close to getting picked up by Universal. This deal comes out of turnaround from Columbia. The film is staged as a starring vehicle for Vince Vaughn, with his Wild West Picture Show banner at Universal. The deal would reteam Vaughn with Garelick who co-wrote his 2006's, The Break-Up.

The story has is based partly on Garelick’s own life and focuses on "two best friends and how their lives are impacted when their grown children fall in love, with one man's daughter becoming pregnant by his best friend's son."

The script was part of a hefty seven-figure deal back in 2009 for Columbia. Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner plan to remain on board as producers
